Gloria Jacobson is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She attended Pratt Institute of Art in New York and the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. After moving to the L.A. area she resumed study at the Laguna Beach School of Art and Otis Institute. She also studied privately with well known artists such as Zoltan Szabo, Barbara Nechis, Robert E. Wood and others. She now lives and maintains a studio in the central California town of Oakhurst.
Jacobson’s works have been shown in a number of Southern California galleries and have been included in many juried and national shows. Her article on watercolor was published in the April 1984 edition of “American Artist Magazine”. Her work is included in the book “Monotype, Mediums and Methods” by Julia Ayres. Gloria’s work was also featured in the introductory edition of Orange County Metro Magazine.
Gloria’s works are in many private and corporate collections some of which are Bank of America, Kaiser Permanente, Sperry Univac, North American Rockwell, Areojet Corp., Universal Savings of Orange Pharmaceuticals, UCLA Medical Center, Hunt-Wesson, CIE Corp. of Irvine, Otani Hotel, L.A. and many others.
Her work is derived mostly from land and seascape imagery, all described in an impressionistic style. Gloria’s paintings are said to be soothing to the eye and are in the collections of many medical facilities and physician’s offices.
