As a child Richard Cavoretto admired his father’s carvings and paintings. His own talent was cultivated by his father and two art instructors who were graduates from California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland. Through scholarship, Richard attended CCAC himself in 1961.

He set aside goals for an art careert to enter the ministry. Still, he produced an occasional drawing or pastel and used his gifts to illustrate sermons and moral principles.

In 1995 Richard picked up the brushes again. Encouraged by some local artists, he began to produce still lifes, landscapers, portraits and other pieces. His favorite subject for painting is rusted pieces of old machinery. He calls it his “Heavy Metal” phase. He says, “There is beauty to be found, even in objects that have been rejected and discarded. When the Master Artist touches us, He lives beauty for ashes.”

Richard lives in Oakhurst, California with his wife Donna. He serves as a pastor, ant is active in the Mountain Ministerial Association. “Man was created to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” Richard’s goal is to express that conviction in his own creations.
