Richard Nelson born and raised in Kingsburg, CA. Studied electronic engineering at Cal Poly. Spent 6 years in the Navy as an electronics technician. After an honorable discharge, he went back to college and finished his degree at Fresno State.
He worked in electronics until his retirement from the San Joaquin Air Pollution District in 2008. With time on his hands, his wife, a fine arts artist and wood sculptor, tried to get him interested in woodworking. Now woodworking has become a passion. He enjoys making various bowls, segmented bowls and boxes, vases, candle holders, jewelry boxes, etc. His newest projects are including intarsia, prainted and woodburned relief carvings.
